The small blades of the radial plate fan are oriented radially, which results in a significantly larger vortex loss (impulse loss) at the inlet when drawing in gas compared to turbo fans, causing strain in the gas flow. Therefore, the efficiency is lower than that of turbo fans; however, when dust and other particles are mixed in the intake gas, it has properties that make it less likely to adhere and wear out, making it suitable for air transport of various objects, including solids and films. Additionally, due to the simple structure of the impeller, it is easy to apply linings such as rubber and fluororesin, making it a fan that can easily handle corrosive gases.
